Rooh Afza is a non-alcoholic concentrated squash made with blend of pure crystalline sugar, distilled natural extracts of citrus flowers, aquas of fruits, vegetables and cooling herbal ingredients. In India, it is one of the most popular summer drink. The bright, attractive red color and the refreshing flavor of the drink keeps it in the top list of Indian drinks. Since my childhood I have drinking Roohafza in various forms. My mother used to make Roohafza lemonade, Roohafza milk shake., Lassi and even ice creams using this syrup.

This time the theme for Blog hop was Beverages , and so I decided to bring my childhood flavor into picture. This is my second BLOG HOP post and I am once again thrilled to write my post.

ROOH AFZA’s cooling effect is long lasting for it not only instantly quenches the thirst but also rapidly cools the entire system and gives back the body the vigor, vitality and freshness depleted by excessive heat.It was developed by hakeem hafiz abdul majeed in 1907 and was later manufactured the company hamdard (wakf) laboratories which was founded by him and his sons.

Rooh Afza makes a delicious milk shake and its other intake, whether added to water, dessert like custard, ice cream, Falooda, Feerni, always offers a pleasant and soulful experience. Today for the Blog Hop beverages theme , I made a drink with apples and roohafza, and I named it roohafza applade, well like lemonade…this is applade.
Apples, cinnamom and roohafza this drink has three flavors merged into one. To make this drink , I first made an apple sauce using apples and cinnamon and then added chilled water and roohafza in it. Since everything is already sweet, there was no need to add extra sugar in this drink.
Here is the recipe

Loved the creative makeover you have given to the traditional roohafza drinks. The name itself is so very catchy and this is visually a very pretty and inviting drink. The cinnamon notes in the drink makes it even the more attractive for me. And the trivia I simply loved it as I am a huge taker of food history, stories and trivia. Loved it dear.
