Bulgur wheat is a whole wheat grain that has been cracked and partially pre-cooked. As a whole grain, it is a naturally high-fiber, low-fat, low-calorie vegetarian and vegan food ingredient. Bulgur wheat is naturally cholesterol-free food.

BULGUR WHEAT UPMA

INGREDIENTS:
Dry Bulgur-1cup
Boiling water-1cup
oil-2tbsp
Musturd seeds-1/4tsp
Urad daal-1tsp
Chana daal-1tsp
roasted peanuts-1/4 cups
finely chopped onion- 1
big chilli-1
diced potato-1
chopped beans-1cup
boiled peas-1cup
Diced carrots-1 cup
salt
cilantro leaves for garnishing

METHOD

    • In a bowl add bulgur wheat,boiled water and salt. Stir it thoroughly and leave for 45 minutes.
    • Add oil in a wok and put mustard seeds. Let them crackle.
    • Add Urad daal, Chana daal and sauté for 2 minutes. Now add chopped onions, curry leaves and sauté. Fry till onions change colour.

    • Add peanuts( roasted), diced vegetables ( you can also microwave the vegetables and add)
    • put salt,then  bulgur wheat and cover for 5-10 minutes on low flame. Stir it.

  • Turn off the stove and garnish with coriander leaves. Serve hot . You may add lime juice too.
