Oats, Potato & Peas Ring Tikkis

Aren’t these cute looking tikkis little different in shape? Well that is what makes them attractive for kids to enjoy!! It become tricky sometimes to feed your kids healthy food as they don’t find interesting when compared to all those cheesy pizzas, colorful burgers and fried donuts. I always try to cook healthy food in my kitchen, by healthy I am not saying diet or weight watcher food always ,but a food that is healthy in nutrition. FullSizeRender (4)

Today, for evening snack I wanted to make something with oats and wanted my kids to enjoy the snack as well. Well my sons are not very fond of Aloo tikkis( Potato Patties) and if I added oats what would happen? I was not sure whether they will like it or not…..

Well, I thought of giving the plain tikkis a little donuty shape so as to make them attractive for my kids. I shaped them like a donuts or ring with the help of a chop stick and then after shallow frying them, I stacked them into a celery stick and then poured a dash of tomato ketchup all over.

These Tikkis turned out to be very delicious and yes my kids loved them. the tikkis have oats, Potato, peas, rice, grated paneer, and cilantro. A very healthy combination pf protein, fiber, and carbs. Oats are very healthy in fiber and protein and we must include oats in regular diet.

HEALTH TIP OF THE DAY!!
Potatoes are not unhealthy and they don’t increase the weight if you eat them in potion and cook them the right way. Either bake or boil them and avoid eating fried potatoes.
If you keep portion sizes in check—no more than one medium potato in a given meal—and eat the fiber-rich skin, potatoes make a satisfying, low-cal, nutrient-rich side dish,” says Michelle Dudash, RD, a Gilbert, AZ-based nutritionist.

Tried it today…turned out delicious and love it fact that’s it’s a whole meal by itself. The Tikki turned out a little dry/hard do you have any suggestions/tips to improve. I plan to pack this for my toddlers lunch want to make sure it remains soft until lunchtime. Thanks again

Thanks Poonam! If you are making for kids, you can increase the quantity of potatoes and also you can add paneer to the tikkis. They should remain soft this way. Hope this helps you.
