GOBHI ALOO MASALA| CAULIFLOWER CURRY

Gobhi Aloo Masala is a traditional Indian recipe which is cooked frequently in every Indian family. Everyone has a different style of cooking it. I cook it the way my mother makes it. She uses methi seeds for tadka.Gobhi Aloo goes well with Poori or chappati and is very delicious to eat.

Today I made it and send it for my friend cum neighbour also who is from Andra Pradesh in India and she told me on phone that her family loved it. It always feel good when everyone appreciates your cooking.
Here is the recipe

 
ALOO GOBHI MASALA
INGREDIENTS:

Cauliflower-1 big
Potatoes- 2 big
Ginger garlic paste-2tsp
Onion paste- ( paste of 1 onion)
Methi seeds- 1tsp
turmeric powder-1tsp
coriander powder-2tsp
Red chilli powder-1tsp
Salt -to taste
Coriander leaves for garnishing
Oil-2 tbsp.

METHOD:

  • Wash and cut the potatoes and Cauliflower. Put Potatoes in Water and dry the cauliflower florets.
  • Put Oil in a wok/Kadai and add methi seeds once the oil is hot. Add the paste of onions and fry it.
  • Add ginger garlic paste , all spices and little amount of water and cook the masala till it leaves oil.
  • Add Potatoes first and cook them for a while, then add cauliflower and stir the vegetables.
  • Cover the Wok and cook on medium flame till the vegetables are cooked. Garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot with Poori or paranthe or chappatis.

    NOTES

    1.You can add garam masala powder also for enhancing the taste.
    2. Also make sure that to stir the vegetable in between, but avoid over doing it. You may also add tomatoes in the masala.
    3.If you think that the curry is very dry sprinkle some water on top to avoid burning
