Cranberries are a unique fruit. They are very similar to an Indian berry called Karonda. They are sour and tarty in taste, but tastes great when used in sauces, jellies , pickles or relishes. Apart from tastes, they have great health benefits too.Check out few of them in the foot notes below.
I bought this big bag of cranberries few days back and was thinking of some Cranberry recipes. I thought of making a plain cranberry sauce first, but then I thought of mixing some apples in the sauce. I have had made apple sauce earlier and used that sauce in making Whole Wheat Egg less Apple Cinnamon cake. With an idea of making a cake using cranberry apple sauce, similar to the above cake, I made cranberry apple sauce and believe me, it turned out great.

It is very important to mix and keep stirring the mixture while making the sauce , other wise it would get burnt. For this sauce I used a cup of cranberries and 2 big and sweet apples. You can increase the amount of sugar if you want it to be more sweet. I love the taste of cinnamon in desserts, but if you don’t like cinnamon, you can skip and use any other flavoring of your choice or no flavors at all. You can serve this sauce with grren beans, chips, crackers or even as a bread spread. It tastes aweosme!

Foot Notes

Cranberry juice is renowned for its effectiveness in treating urinary tract infections because it inhibits bacteria from attaching to the bladder and urethra. Cranberries also protect against cancer, particularly breast cancer, due in part to potent antioxidant polyphenols.
